A Closer Look@Black History & Women: Places | People | Things | Dreams
An exhibition March 13 - April 3
A Call for Artwork: February 11 – March 9, 2022
The Danville Museum of Fine arts and History invite local artist to visit the museum and take a closer look at our Civil Rights Exhibition, Camilla Williams Exhibition and the Women artists we have in our 20th Century Collection for inspiration. We also ask you to look at the Historical figures of African American figures and Women figures in Danville’s history. It is important to the Danville Museum that the community exhibition reflect our collections, our stories and our many histories in a meaningful way. We hope the museum can offer a wealth of interesting engagements. The DMFAH would also like to encourage the artists to show the work they did during the past two Covid19 years. We will mark these works as C19. We want this work to speak to audiences coming through the Museum. We encourage African-American Artists, Women Artists and we encourage all artists who have looked at the complex issues of Black History & Women through an artist’s lens. We hope that artists will consider “places” “people” and “things” that allows us to connect the audience to these larger conversations.
